Dr Rakesh K Gorea is Professor Emeritus, and was an Executive Director at Medicolegal Institute & Registrar, at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, a Professor Emeritus at SJJT University, Rajasthan, an Adjunct Professor, at University of Philippines, Manila & Eternal University, HP Punjab, Ex- Faculty member of National Forensic Science University, Gandhinagar, and formerly Faculty Member at Forensic Medicine Department, College of Medicine, Prince Sattam bin Abdul Aziz University, Saudi Arabia and Former Principal at NC Medical College, Panipat and Rama Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Kanpur in India. Due to his untiring efforts to develop Forensic Nursing Science in Indo Pacific Region for the last 23 years, he has been awarded three titles: “Father of Forensic Nursing” during an International Conference on “Transforming perspectives of Nursing Research Leading to Clinical Innovations” at Samarpan Institute, Lucknow & “Founder of Forensic Nursing in India” at 9th Conference of Indo Pacific Academy of Forensic Nursing Science at Durgapur in India. He has also been awarded the title of the Father of Forensic Odontology in India for to his efforts to develop Forensic dentistry in India.

He is a BSc, MBBS, MD, PhD and Diplomate of the National Board. He was a Faculty member of Forensic and Legal Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians, London. He has five fellowships from the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine, International Medical Science Academy, Indian Congress of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Society for Prevention of Injuries & Corporal Punishment and Indo Pacific Academy of Forensic Odontology. He has completed the quality management system Lead auditor course in ISO 9001:2008 Standards from Moody International UK.

He is the Founder President of the Indo-Pacific Academy of Forensic Nursing Science, Indo-Pacific Academy of Forensic Odontology and Society for Prevention of Injuries and Corporal Punishment and past president of the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine and Founder President of Punjab Academy of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, former Editor in chief of the journal of Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine and Journal of Punjab Academy of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, besides being office-bearer of many other organizations. Currently, he is editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Ethics, Trauma and Victimology and editor of the Global Journal of Nursing and Forensic Sciences. He is a member of the advisory committee of the Journal of the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine, the Global Journal of Nursing & Forensic Studies and the German Journal of Forensic Sciences.

He has presented 200 papers at national and international forums with 163 research publications (35 in forensic odontology & 12 in forensic Nursing Science). He has authored three books, “Practical Aspects of Forensic Medicine”, “Forensic Nursing Science: A Global Health Initiative for Developing and Developed Countries” & “Basics of Forensic Nursing Science” and has authored 7 chapters for the 7 different books.

He has 40 years of teaching experience. He has guided many MD and PhD Scholars. He has two national and two international awards to his credit and has delivered 75 keynotes and guest lectures. He was given a special award by the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine for his efforts to develop Forensic Nursing in India, a Vision Award by the International Association of Forensic Nurses at Salt Lake City USA, an Excellence Award by SAFCON and five Lifetime Achievement Awards including Haq & Bose Lifetime Achievement Award by Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine, Indo Pacific Academy of Forensic Odontology, International Association of Scientists & Researchers at 4th International Forensic Science Conference at Delhi University, IJHRLMP & PAFMAT. His academic areas of special interest are Forensic Nursing, Forensic Odontology and the prevention of crime against children. He has rich international experience, delivering keynote and guest lectures in 21 different countries: the USA, UK, Switzerland, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Peru, South Africa, Australia, Egypt, Iran, Turkey, UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Nigeria, Philippines & Italy.
