Is Forensic Nursing in India catching up with the world?

Updated: Oct 3, 2022

India has become the first country in the world to initiate Forensic Nursing curriculum in the undergraduate course of nursing. In the other countries of the world it is a postgraduate course. Idea of forensic nursing in India originated with the visit of Virginia Lynch in 2002 in India at Government Medical College, Patiala, Punjab, India. General Public and stakeholders were made aware by CMEs, CNEs and conferences and after 20years of hard work by the members of the Indo Pacific Academy of Forensic Nurses the subject got its due when it was incorporated in the curriculum of BSc Nursing in the fifth semester all over India.
